Jessica Catalan

Jessica began playing music at the age of nine and discovered the French horn at the age of twelve. Music brought her from Elk Grove, CA down to Los Angeles for college. She earned her BM in horn performance from Azusa Pacific University where she studied abroad in Heidelberg, Germany and toured to Singapore, South Korea and throughout the US. Jessica most recently has been awarded with a Master’s degree in Music from the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music in French horn performance, under the direction of Dr. Kristy Morrell. During her studies at USC, she earned three outreach performance fellowships: The Gluck Foundation Fellowship and was twice awarded the Thornton Outreach Fellowship Resident Ensemble. These fellowships gave Jessica the opportunity to perform with her woodwind quintet, Sound of 5, for thousands of people throughout Los Angeles. Through these fellowships, Jessica realized the importance and need in serving the greater Los Angeles community with music education and performance. This passion led her to work with the Harmony Project as a Program Manager. Jessica continues to play throughout Los Angeles in outreach and professional performances; she also maintains a private horn studio.
