Steve Sadono is considered an eclectic and versatile pianist for his ability to perform as a soloist as well as collaborate with singers and instrumentalists. Recent performances have included major works by Barber, Bartók, Chopin, Liszt, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Schubert, and Schumann.

While he is focusing his career in solo piano performance, Steve has found a niche for working with vocalists as an accompanist. He has been a rehearsal pianist and accompanist for several opera productions which have included works such as Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte and Don Giovanni, Donizetti’s L’elisir D’amore, and Bizet’s Carmen, among many others.

Steve received his Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance from California State University, Northridge under the tutelage of Francoise Regnát. He has been awarded scholarships from the Dumont Foundation and the Harpo Marx Foundation to study with Liam Viney and Vicky Ray at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). He has recently completed two master’s degrees in solo piano performance and collaborative keyboard studies.

Steve has performed at many venues including the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Disney Hall’s RedCat Theatre, and in Java, Indonesia for the centennial celebration of the world-renowned and celebrated Javanese Gamelan composer and musician K.P.H. Notoprojo who passed away in 2007.

Steve continues to perform and teach extensively. He works as part-time faculty in music at Los Angeles Mission College and has recently accepted a teaching position at the Watts Towers Art Center in conjunction with the CAP/CalArts program, which focuses on providing arts training to inner city and underprivileged children. His next major goal is to pursue a doctorate in music.
