Ilizabeth Gilbert received her Bachelor of Arts in Music and Master of Education from UCLA and holds her Master of Music in Flute Performance from California State University, Northridge. Holding a Single-Subject Teaching Credential in Music, Ilizabeth taught from 1989-1995 with the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District and since 1995 has been an instrumental music teacher with the Newhall School District where she teaches orchestra at all 10 district elementary schools. She is a member of the Music Educator's National Conference (MENC), California Music Educator's Association (CMEA), and the Music Teacher's Association of California (MTAC). Ilizabeth currently also maintains her own private flute studio in the Santa Clarita Valley.

A strong advocate for Arts Education, Ms. Gilbert has been the Education Director of the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony since its inception, developing the curriculum for outreach programs which have reached over 8,000 Jewish day school, afternoon Hebrew school and Public School students throughout the Los Angeles area. Co-founder and Director of the Los Angeles Education through the Arts Project, an affiliate of the Bernstein Education through the Arts Fund, Ilizabeth has participated in several intensive summer training sessions with The Nashville Institute of the Arts in Nashville, Tennessee, The Lincoln Center Institute for the Arts in Education in New York, and the Leonard Bernstein Center for Education through the Arts in Nashville, Tennessee. In 1994, Ilizabeth became a National Teaching Artist and Research Fellow with the Leonard Bernstein Center.

Ilizabeth’s main teachers were David Shostac, Sheridon Stokes and Julius Baker and she has performed in Master Classes and clinics across the country with William Bennett, James Galway, Louis Moyse, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Albert Tipton, and Ransom Wilson. She is a much sought-after clinician and evaluator for young flutists throughout California. An active professional freelance flutist in the greater Los Angeles area, Ilizabeth currently serves as Principal Flutist with the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony and is a member of the Los Angeles Woodwind Quartet. She is a Woodwind Coach with the Kadima Conservatory. Ilizabeth resides in the Santa Clarita Valley with her husband John and her two sons, Bryce and Michael.
